Automotive Amnesty Day on Wednesday, April 22nd: What Is It?
On Wednesday, April 22nd, as part of Earth Day celebrations, Nordstrom’s Automotive Inc. will host Amnesty Day. During this event, environmentally unsafe products from vehicles will be accepted free of charge and processed in our professional automotive dismantling operation. This special day highlights the work we do every day to protect the environment.
Accepted Items and Event Details
Amnesty Day will take place at Nordstrom’s Full-Service Auto Recycling 2.0 and Ewe Pullet Self-Service from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Items accepted include automotive batteries, car and pickup tires (limit 8 per household, no businesses), and all types of vehicle fluids (oils, antifreeze), as well as damaged and junk auto parts. Please note that only individual quantities will be accepted, not business contributions. Nordstrom’s recycles these products daily, but this event is designed to help the public dispose of them properly. Other Earth Day Activities
· FREE Admission to our EWE PULLET self-service facility is offered for the entire week of Earth Day, from April 20th to 25th. Guests can access the facility without paying the gate admittance fee and use their own tools and labor to harvest savings. Additionally, anyone wearing EWE PULLET LOGOWEAR or UNDER THE HOOD SHOW LOGOWEAR will receive FREE admission for the entire month of April. Re-use is the purest form of recycling!
· Nordstrom’s team, consisting of over 75 employees, will gather after work on Thursday April 23rd, to clean road ditches along more than 24 linear miles of State Highway, County Highway, and Township roads.

Automotive recycling is recycling at its purest. Re-use is the ultimate form of recycling, as harvesting a quality used auto part from another vehicle eliminates the need for raw materials and expensive manufacturing. Using Green Recycled Parts® is the best way to recycle, and there are additional benefits! Estimated Calculations show:
· Using a single recycled door assembly can save an estimated 163 kg of CO2e, equivalent to the greenhouse gas emissions from consuming 8.3 gallons of gasoline or 16 gallons of diesel—essentially, a full tank for every door!
· Using a single recycled engine can save approximately 1,194 kg of CO2e, which equals the emissions from driving 3,054 miles (about the distance from San Diego to Boston).
· A recycled transmission can save around 1,047 kg of CO2e, equivalent to driving 2,666 miles. (about the distance from Los Angeles, CA to Buffalo, NY)
· Even a recycled headlamp saves an estimated 31 kg of CO2e, which corresponds to the emissions from 2,506 smartphone charges—enough to charge six smartphones every day for a year.
