CAR PROGRAM FEATURES & NEWS
NEW! The CAR Program has recently released the Torch-use Education & Orientation Protocol. Due to an impressive number of accidents that occur each year as a result of the improper use of the cutting torch in the automotive recycling industry, the ARA CAR committee instituted the mandatory standard that all CAR facilities administer and sign the Torch-use Protocol prior to the employee's use of the cutting torch. Because of the serious dangers associated with the cutting torch, the committee strongly recommends that automotive facilities make every effort to eliminate or restrict use the use of the cutting torch. In such cases as the facilities need to use the cutting torch, the CAR Committee has made every effort to educate and inform the user on the proper use, handling and dangers associated with the cutting torch. You may download and print the CAR Torch-use Education & Orientation Protocol here.
Effective in 2007, CAR members will be required to participate in the National Vehicle mercury Switch Recovery Program (NCMSRP) or the equivalent Sate program. This is an ongoing effort to protect the environment from the hazardous material often placed by automobile manufacturers in convenience light switches in vehicles. Also, in an effort to reduce the risk of accidental injury due to the use of cutting torches in an automotive recycling facility, the CAR program will require each of its certified facilities to institute a Safety Torch Protocol.
Now, more than ever, there's no excuse not to participate in ARA's Certified Automotive Recycler (C.A.R.) Program. We've Enhanced the Program Benefits to Make the Program Even Better for You, the ARA Member.

Gold Seal Program
The ARA Gold Seal program, available only to those ARA members who have completed CAR certification, ensures excellence in customer satisfaction through improved customer service, quality parts with accurate descriptions, reliable on-time deliveries and written product warranties.
With the new addition of the customer complaint system, minimum CSI score standards, mechanical parts warranty, and the requirement of all Gold Seal members to use the ARA parts grading system, why would you buy recycled automotive parts from anyone else?
Established by ARA with an endorsement from the Automotive Service Association (ASA), the program allows recyclers to join forces to take a proactive stance to improve quality and increase customer satisfaction.
