Advocacy FEVER!
It's catching! Plan to attend ARA's annual Capitol Hill Day on March 17, 2011, to impact and educate legislators on the Hill.
Thomas Jefferson said, "We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate." On March 17, 2011, auto recyclers from across the country will come together in Washington, D.C., to meet with their elected officials to discuss a wide range of legislative issues affecting the industry. Be one of the majority and join your colleagues in Washington, D.C.!

Lasy year 50 recyclers visited Capital Hill and made their voices heard. This year is your chance to do the same. Our goal is to have 100 attendees
this year, doubling attendance, so this is your year to attend. Why not bring a friend with you for double the impact! This is a chance to have fun and make connections while advocating on behalf of  auto recyclers and your customers.

This is a unique year. Last November's election was historic and there is a buzz in the air on Capitol Hill as Republicans took back control of the House of Representatives. There are so many new members of Congress who are ready to meet their constituents. It is crucial that they hear the concerns
of small business owners like yourself.

Your voice is all-powerful in so many ways. Not only do you represent an individual constituent vote, but you also collectively provide your ARA Government Affairs representatives with the keys to open otherwise locked doors. After you leave, we will promptly follow-up on your visit with your representative so that the contacts youmake are made effective on issues key to the industry.

The agenda this year is exciting, informative, and designed tomake it easy for you to enjoy the event. First, ARA staff will make the congressional appointments for you and will help in every way to ensure a successful visit with your Members of Congress. Once you arrive in Washington you will be briefed on all the issues, hear frominvited guest speakers, and have the opportunity for a Q&A session with ARA Government Affairs staff (see the schedule). We will also offer a special training session for first-time attendees.

The newly-formed Ladies of the Automotive Recyclers Association (LARA) will have a luncheon and meeting on Wednesday, March 16. Also on Wednesday, there will be a special FUNdraising ARA PAC evening event. And last but not least, we will have a post-Hill Day St. Patrick's Day reception Thursday afternoon, during which we will debrief and begin to strategize on follow-up activities as we get closer to the event.

Additional information will be posted to the ARA website and shared with those already registered.

So don't delay. Send a strong message to Congress in the early days of the 112th session andmake your voices heard. RSVP now for this unique opportunity. With your participation in Capitol Hill days, you will help ARA keep automobile recycling in the policy spotlight. Don't miss this great opportunity!

The ARA Mid-Year Business Development Conference & Hill Days will be held at the beautiful new Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. Stay for the weekend to enjoy all Washington, D.C., has to offer. Make your travel plans today. Contact Elizabeth Vermette at elizabeth@a-r-a.org to RSVP and Catch Advocacy Fever!
